Cabin Life Magazine June 2007 Issue"Here's what they had to say" As a fourth generation woodworker, Dan Pauly not only knows the craft well, but has taken it up a notch with his creativity. His passion for old barn wood stems from his great-grandfather Henry, who emigrated from Switzerland and built many barns in the countryside surrounding his new home in the rural United States. Carrying on the craftsmanship legacy, Dan uses reclaimed barnwood in many creations including his unique trademark - a small fairyland-like cottage building - which he custom designs and crafts into a European sauna. However, these enchanted buildings can also be used as a storage/garden shed, a children's playhouse or even a outhouse. With its pointed roofline, crooked stovepipe and reclaimed wood, each whimsical creation brings smiles to all who see it. Pauly also crafts wildlife panels, pictures frames, home furnishings and other one-of-a-kind, wood products. He strives to create distinctive pieces from original lumber, taking what Mother Nature weathered on the outside and beautifying it again with great care. "I take pride in realizing that I may be working with the same lumber that my great-grandfather used more than 100 years ago, "says Pauly. As enchanting as these creations are, perhaps the next Disney movie character will have a fairyland sauna or storage shed in his/her cabin.
